Labor Day 2026

Good morning, this is Bates with your Labor Day, Ocean Surf Shop, Folly Beach Surf Report and Forecast for what some consider the official end to summer vacation. Let locals-only – or locals mostly – summer begin.
Surf is very small, weak and it’s getting choppy. If you celebrated the proletariat class’ labor and toil last night, you can stay in and nurse that hangover. It is, however, a beautiful morning at Folly, and the traffic isn’t too bad. Rain is forecast to start sometime mid-afternoon.
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots. We expect north-east winds to pick up significantly this afternoon at 20 to 25 knots.
Winds are Light from the NW this morning. Look for wind to turn up to 10kt as the day expires.
We have a low tide at 11 a.m. High Tide is at 5:32 p.m.
Edisto Bouy 3.3 feet at 6 seconds from the east/north-east. Jumbled, drifty, short period easterly wind swell should increase as the tide pushes in later today.
Our pals at NOAA predict, “High pressure will be the primary feature across the eastern United States through the week.”
This north-east wind will build choppy, drifty, north-east wind swell for the holiday work-week. Might clean up some Wednesday, but just keep an eye on the easterly wind. This should cool it off some. At least is won’t be Satan’s-front-porch type of hot. But still hot with some waves to ride as everyone heads back to work and school. Late week looks to get hot and flat again as south-west winds return Thursday and Friday.
It’s 81 and sunny. Look for a high of 85* and rain moving in later today.
Sunrise is 6:58 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
