Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is in the thigh-to-waist high range and looks fun for the high volume board.
Winds are north-west, straight off-shore, and surf zone is nice and clean. Waves are a bit weak at the higher tide.
Look for winds to rotate westerly at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and we can expect fading surf later today with side-shore conditions by afternoon.
We have a high tide at 9 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:54 p.m. The next high tide at 9:11 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.5 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period south/south-west wind swell.
Surf is ridable on the high-volume equipment this morning. It’s not great, but it is rideable and clean. Surf looks small Tuesday and Wednesday, but could pick up some in another south wind swell as a cold front approaches and then stalls off-shore. Hopefully a more meaningful low will pop off of this stalled frontal boundary for Friday and into the weekend, but nothing is certain at the moment.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Dry high pressure will prevail into mid week. A cold front will advance through the region Wednesday night or Thursday then should stall south of the area by late week. This weekend into early next week, expect a persistent chance for showers as our area resides between high pressure to the northwest and areas of low pressure along the stationary front to our south.”
It is nice out this morning. Lots of sunshine and some clouds 64*. Look for a high of 79* with perfect beach weather on tap for today.
Water temperature is around 66*. It should be going up over the next week.
Sunrise is at 6:51 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:47 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
