Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast Monday, April 18 at 7:45 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set in a fresh, semi-choppy east swell.

Winds are east/north-east at 10 knots and surf zone is semi-choppy and soft at the high tide. Might be best for a longboard.

Look for winds from the south at 10 to 15 later this morning. Winds rotate south-west this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots. We see an overall choppy surf zone today, with the possibility of a clean up this evening if the wind cooperates.

High tide will be at 9:39 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:42 p.m. The next high tide at 10:10 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 feet at 8 seconds in a high-angled north-east swell, with a east/north-east wind swell 4.6 feet at 7 seconds.

We expect and easterly swell to build thought the day, with winds coming more on-shore as a cold front passes through our waters this afternoon. Keep an eye on the flags for a cleanup late day. Swell should drop some and clean up for Tuesday as winds are forecast to be more off-shore. Swell should come more onshore into the middle of the week, with more favorable winds and some trade wind swell Wednesday through Saturday as high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic. This should push up some fun surf. Nothing too big, but likely surf on the radar for mid-to-late week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will move off the coast this afternoon. High pressure will then build into the area through next weekend.”

It’s currently 66* and raining at the beach. We see rain though early afternoon – heavy at times – with some clearing later today. The high will be around 68*.

Water Temperature is around 68*.

Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:51 p.m.
