Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high. It’s closing out a bit at the lower tide this morning, but should get better form as the tide comes in later today.

Winds are west at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean.

Look for winds to rotate south at around 10 knots this afternoon, and surf should get some bump in it later today.  Surf could clean up in showers and storms this afternoon.

We have a low tide at 9:31 a.m., and a high tide at 4:07 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:32 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 6 seconds in a short period south/south-west wind swell.

Waves should be picking up some later day in a rideable, semi-choppy south-wind swell this afternoon. Nothing too big, and best on a high-volume board. South-west wind-swell will be prevalent to start the work week. We see small, choppy, south-west wind waves in the forecast. This small south-west wind swell carries into mid-week with waves averaging thigh high with a bigger set in drifty conditions as a cold front stalls near our marine area.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A stationary front will maintain unsettled weather including the chance for heavy rainfall across the area through the upcoming week.”

We have sun this morning. It’s 79*. Look for a very hot, humid day with a high of 88* with showers and thunderstorms expected this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:34 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:16 p.m.
