Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 1 at 8:330 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning are knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set and it’s very choppy and drifty.
Winds are southwest at 105 to 18 knots.
Look for south-west winds at 15 to 18 knots late morning, going south-west at 15 to 20 later this afternoon. Overall surf-zone will be choppy and drifty today.
High tide is at 11 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:55 pm. Tide moves in until after dark.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 feet at 5 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.
Waves this morning running in the thigh-high range with some bigger sets. It is choppy. The south-west wind swell looks to begin to fade mid-week, but should hold about the same through Tuesday. With high pressure set up over our marine area late in the workweek, your surf forecast is looking pretty dismal. Still keeping an eye on the tropics, but not showing any hope 10 days out. Sigh.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail this week.”
It’s 83* with sun. We’ll have a high of 88* today and sunny to partly cloudy skies for the afternoon. Heat index breaking a hundred. Looks like little chance for rain over the next few days.
Water Temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:34 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
