Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday August 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Remember that Surfers Healing takes place at the Folly Beach Pier on Thursday, August 23rd. Check it out at www.surfershealing.org.
Also, make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull on Saturday, August 25. There are eight different surfboards that will be raffled off. Get raffle tickets at the surf shop. Or, check it out at www.warriorsurf.org.
Waves at the Washout are knee to thigh high and its soft with tide up in the rocks at the morning’s high tide. It looks OK for a high-volume board.
Winds are light from the south/south-west at 10 to 15 knots and surf is bumpy and choppy.
We see south-west winds at 15 knots this afternoon making the surf semi choppy later today.
High tide will be at 10:12 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:10 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:31 pm.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 6 seconds in short period south-west wind swell.
We should see slightly bigger surf today into Tuesday in weak, short period south/south-west wind swell. Look for waves to average thigh high, perhaps a bigger set at the best tides. The latter part of the work-week looks fairly small as we wait for our first significant tropical system to pop onto the radar.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will persist over inland areas today before a weak front drifts into the area and dissipates during the middle of the week. High pressure will prevail during the second half of the week before low pressure returns during the weekend.”
It’s 81* and cloudy this morning with rain showers in the area. Look for a high of 89* today with a chance of thunderstorms.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 8:06 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:41 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
