Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 19 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is in the knee-to-thigh high range with perhaps a slightly larger set. It is weak, and probably best for a longboard.
Winds are moderate out of the WSW currently around 8 knots making for semi-clean conditions.
Look for winds from the south today at 5 1o 10 knots, and we see bumpy small surf as the tide goes out late afternoon.
High tide is at 11 a.m., and low tide will be at 5 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 5 seconds in a south-west wind swell.
High pressure looks to build back in over our marine area early this week, resulting in small surf today. We should see small south wind swell build some for Tuesday for the longboard. This trend continues on-and-off most of your work week as south/south-west winds trend small on-shore wind-swell for our beaches. It looks like we’ll see mostly long-board or grovler-board waves this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough will prevail until late week when a cold front possibly affects the area.”
It’s 79* with some clouds mixed with sunshine. Look for a high of 87* with a 40% chance of rain this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:45 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:59 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
