Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 23 at 8:30 a.m.
The Surfers Healing annual event is back, and it takes place Wednesday in front of the Tides Hotel. Come support a very worthy cause.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high in a south-west wind swell. It’s rideable, but you’ll need a high-volume board.
Winds are west/south-west at 10 knots. Surf zone is semi-clean and weak.
Winds are predicted to go more south-westerly today at 10 to 15 knots, and this should add some chop to weak wind swell.
High tide is at 9:06 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:12 p.m. The next high tide at 9:40 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 5 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.
South-west wind swell should be building over the next day or two, getting bigger and choppy for Tuesday. Mid-week sees continued moderate south-west wind swell and a growing south-east trade wind swell component for mid-week, into late in the work week. There will be easterly winds on it, so might not be too clean, but look for surf to start building Wednesday into late week.
