Monday, August 31

Good morning, this is Bates with your last day of August 2026 Folly Beach Surf Report and forecast. Accept no substitute.

First picture is of a Nebraska Beach Tuxedo we took as we walked to the beach. We don’t sell this at Ocean Surf Shop, but maybe we should.

Surf at the pier is knee/thigh-high and soft at the high tide this morning. It’s got a lot of water under it at the morning’s incoming tide.

Winds are north/north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is fairly clean. We see easterly winds at 10 knots this afternoon, and surf looks to be small and choppy today.

Tide high this morning at 10:27 and low tide is at 4:44. Tide will be high again around 10:48 p.m.

Edisto Bouy data 2.3 feet at 7 seconds from the south-east.

Small surf today but get your work done. We have the remnants of Dolly and its associated tropical wave pushing a little ground swell our way as high pressure camps out off the mid-Atlantic for mid-week. Late day Wednesday and Thursday, should be a little bigger than we’ve seen. Don’t break out the 7’2” gun, but some waist to chest high longer period ground swell is possible. Get it, because the weekend looks small before we see a significant north-east blow and cooler weather (relatively) by Monday of next week.

It’s 84 with dark clouds moving onto the beach this morning. Look for thunderstorms today mixed between sun and a high of 85*.

Sunrise is 6:50 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:52 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
