Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 6 at 8:15 a.m.
Congrats to Ocean Surf Shop team rider Cory Jackson on his wins during the Governor’s Cup over the weekend. We are proud of you, bud.
Surf at The Washout is ankle to knee high. It is closing out at the morning’s low tide.
It is small this morning, but could get a little push with the incoming tide.
Winds are light out of the north-west, and surf is nice and clean.
We see southerly winds around 10 knots today, making surf semi-choppy this afternoon.
Low tide is at 9:25 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:49 p.m. The next low tide at 10:19 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2 ft. at 7 seconds in a small, medium-period south-easterly swell.
Look for knee to thigh high surf today as the tide comes in late morning. Probably best for your high -volume board or longboard. We expect smaller surf this week as Atlantic High Pressure slides west and sits over our marine area and a trough of low pressure develops to our west. After a pretty good run of bigger, choppy surf, we see smaller, typical summertime, conditions return for the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will continue to build into the area as troughing develops inland through mid-week. A cold front may approach the area from the north late in the week.”
It’s 78* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 86, with a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms later this afternoon.
Water temperature is 83*.
Sunset is at 8:12 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:36 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
