Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 7 at 9:00 a.m.
Today is pretty small at the pier. Looking to be ankle to knee and week
Winds are light from the west at about 5 kts. It’s a pretty morning and you may be able to get a little longboard session in with the incoming tide
We are expecting southwest winds in the afternoon increasing to 10-15 kts and gusty late
We just came off a low tide at 6:59 a.m. Look for a high to follow at 1:30 p.m. and another low to end our day at 7:40 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 8 seconds in medium period ESE swell.
A little smaller than yesterday, may be a log ride on the incoming tide. Tuesday, we see choppy, south-west wind swell pick up ahead of a frontal boundary. This continues into Wednesday, when we could see a small trade-wind style ground swell kick up a wave with a little better form for Thursday. Tropics aren’t kicking up anything definitive right now, but we’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will approach Tuesday and meander over the area through mid to late week. An area of low pressure could develop over the Coastal Plain, bringing another round of unsettled weather into the weekend.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 80* with sunshine. It’s gonna be a hot one today with a high of 89 and an heat index at 103. Stay hydrated this week!
Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
