Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high and might show promise for a longboard glide as the tide comes in late morning. It’s still small, but it’s bigger than it has been. It is, however, closing out at the Washout at the lower tide.
Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy.
Look for winds to rotate south at 10 knots for the majority of the day, and surf zone stays semi-choppy today.
Low tide is at 10:42 a.m., and high tide is at 5:26 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading a very small 3 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
We should see an uptick in small trade-wind swell for the early-to-middle part of the work week as high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic states. South-west wind swell picks up mid-to-late week as a cold front approaches with strong south-west winds. We are still keeping an eye on the tropics. There is a spot to watch off of the African coastline, but it is way, way too far our to say if it will develop or move into our swell window. Maybe something to watch late next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region through mid week. A cold front could approach from the north by the end of the week.”
It’s 71* with showers in the area this morning. Look for a high of 86* and sun with passing showers today.
Water Temperature is about as hot as it gets. It’s around 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:11 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
