Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is averaging thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set in an east/south-east ground swell. Looks fun for the high-volume boards, and no one is really out.
Winds are westerly, putting a little texture in the surf zone.
Look for winds to remain light and variable this morning, coming south at 8 to 12 knots this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 10:34 a.m., and a low tide at 5:01 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 10 seconds in aa long period east/south-east ground swell.
The swell will slowly be fading this afternoon, so get it near the high tide this morning if you can. Looking ahead into the work week we see building, choppy south wind-swell into the waist-to-chest high range ahead of an approaching cold front on Tuesday. This wind swell fades quickly and cleans up early Wednesday morning after a cold front passage. Long-range is hinting of a potential low developing off our coast late Friday into Saturday and Sunday producing bigger easterly ground-swell, but it’ll likely be windy. We will keep you posted.
It is 47* with clear skies this morning. Look for a high of 63*
Water temperature is now 57*
Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:15 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will slide offshore through tonight. A cold front will then cross the area late Tuesday, followed by high pressure prevailing into late week. Low pressure should develop near the coast this weekend, before high pressure returns early next week.”
