Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, December 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We’re open for regular business hours this week. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will close at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and be closed New Year’s Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is ankle-to-knee-high. It’s actually hard to see. The fog is so dense that it’s really hard to see. It’s as thick as pea soup out here this morning. But you can tell the waves are small.
Winds are south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy.
Look for winds from the south-west at about the same clip all day. We have semi-choppy surf averaging knee-high all day.
We are coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 1:22 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:45 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind wave.
Small surf to start the New Year’s work week. It’s semi-choppy, and it looks to fall off as the tide goes out this afternoon. Surf should begin to pick up again starting Wednesday in another short-period south-west wind swell as a series of disturbances approach our marine area late in the week. There should be some small south wind chop to ride Wednesday and Thursday with poor form. We could see a bigger swell Sunday ahead of a cold front as winds pick up strong from the south/south-west.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region this week. A series of disturbances will affect the area Thursday through Saturday. A cold front could move through Sunday.”
It’s warm and very foggy this morning. It’s 63*. Look for a nice winter beach day with a high of 70* and partly cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water Temperature is hovering around 56*.
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:21 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
