Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, December 12 at 8:30 a.m.
We have tons of new men’s O’Neill wet-suits in stock. Come check them out and get ready for winter surfing.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high and kind of soft at the morning’s high tide. Kind of an inconsistent easterly swell.
Winds are north at 10 knots, and surf is slightly angled and mostly clean with a minimal drift down the beach from north-to-south.
We see north winds continue today at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone should maintain semi-clean form today.
High tide will be at 10:09 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:32 p.m. The next high tide at 10:35 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 11 seconds in a long period easterly ground swell, with a short-period wind swell reading of 3 feet at 4 seconds from the north/north-east.
Surf is pretty small today. Certainly not as nice as it was this weekend. This week, we will see increasing north-east wind swell with drifty, choppy conditions before this swell rotates more on-shore Thursday with strong south winds ahead of a cold front. Look for angled north-east swell Tuesday and Wednesday, and then choppy, bigger south wind swell on Thursday. Look for a quick clean up at some time Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Surf drops off with cold temperatures for the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through early this week. A cold front will bring impacts to the region late Wednesday into Thursday. High pressure will then prevail late week and into early next week.”
It’s 52* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 59* with the sun trying to come out behind the clouds on and off today.
Water temperature is still around 61*.
Sunrise is at 7:12 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
