Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, December 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Come see us for your Christmas shopping needs. We are stocked with boards, including Catch Surf models and longboards. We will be open until 5:30 every evening, closed at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning waist-to-stomach high with a chest set in a high-angled east/north-east wind swell. It’s about breaking into the dunes out here with a very high tide. So, it’s kind of soft, but there is plenty of size.
Winds are strong from the north at 15 to 20. Surf is side-shore and semi-clean with plenty of drift down the beach.
Look for north-east winds at 15 to 20 this morning, and surf should show some chop later today. North-east wind diminish some later today at 10 to 15 knots.
Tide is high as of report time. Low tide will be at 2:32 p.m., and high tide will be at 8:40 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 10 seconds in a long-period south-east swell, with a short-period south-west wind swell 4.6 ft at 5 seconds.
We see north-east winds and high-angled swell increase to start the Christmas workweek. Look for a low pressure moving from the south and into our marine area tonight into Tuesday. We see increasing north-east wind swell and continued north-east winds. There should be some surf, but there will be north-east winds on it through Wednesday, when we see a quick clean up. Surf gets small for late week into Christmas weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will briefly linger over the area today. A coastal storm will bring impacts to the region tonight through Wednesday morning. High pressure then returns late in the week.”
It’s kind of cold this morning. It’s 42* with mostly cloudy skies. Look for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 52* today. Rain starts overnight.
Water Temperature is hovering around 58*.
Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
