Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for your Valentine’s Day, February 14, at 8:30 a.m.
There’s not much to love about the surf on this Valentine’s Day, because it’s flat.
Winds are north-west at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is textured and clean.
Look for winds to continue north-west at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon. We see a clean surf zone and small waves all day.
Tide is going out. Low tide will be at 12:27 p.m., and high tide will be at 6:33 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 ft. at 5 seconds in a high angled north/north-east wind swell. This small wind-swell is heading south of our beaches.
Surf starts the week flat, and is looking pretty small through Tuesday. On Wednesday, there should be some meaningful surf ahead of a cold front when on-shore flow increases and sends in a typical, pre-frontal winter-time south swell with bigger conditions and southerly winds keeping things fairly choppy. This trend continues late into the work week, so keep that on your radar. South-west wind increase on Friday, making surf choppy. On Saturday, winds come more north and we could see a possible clean-up. Winds go strong north-east Saturday afternoon, and we see high-angled north-east wind swell fill in for next weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build over the region today and will remain the dominant feature through the middle of the week. A cold front will impact the region late week, then high pressure will shift into the area for the weekend.”
It’s 44* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 55* today and sun.
Water Temperature is around 51*.
Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:03 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
