Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, February 24, at 8:30 a.m.
Olukai footwear is on sale, and all of our wetsuits are marked down. Come check it out while the selection is still good.
Surf at Folly this morning is running knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist set here and there. It’s soft at the higher tide and breaking up on the beach, but it is fairly clean. It’s ok for the long-board, and it could get better form as the tide goes out mid-morning.
Winds are moderate out of the east at 5 knots. Surf zone is clean.
Look variable winds today, coming south late day at 5knots. We see a fairly clean surf zone today.
We have a high tide as of report time., and we’ll see a low tide at 2:25 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:29 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period east/south-east swell.
We should expect small, mixed easterly swell with not too much wind today, so break out the long-board if you want to glide a few. Surf to start the work week looks smaller, but we do expect south wind swell to increase overnight into Tuesday as a warm front lifts north, then a pair of cold fronts approach for Tuesday, pushing up a south wind swell, with south-west winds increasing by Tuesday into Wednesday. Late week, high pressure and off-shore winds should blow down the surf as the temperature drops again after a cold front, but there could be some waves Tuesday and Wednesday with some wind on it. That should be our main swell during the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A developing warm front will lift north of the region tonight, followed by a pair of cold fronts during the middle of the week. High pressure returns Thursday and Friday, with a weak cold front expected Saturday.”
It’s 56* with clouds this morning. Expect a cloudy day with a high of 66*.
Water temperature dropped to 54* again with the cold snap.
Sunrise is at 6:52 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
