Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 6, at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat.
Winds are moderate out of the west and the surf zone is clean.
Look for winds to continue westerly today at 10 knots, and we’ll see small semi-clean surf all day.
We have a low tide at 10:18 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:20 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 5 seconds in a west/south-west wind swell, with a long-period easterly swell, 1.6 ft. at 10 seconds.
Surf looks to stay small almost all of the work week, through Friday, when we see a storm system begin its push through our marine area. This should build another significant south wind swell Friday and into the weekend, with moderate south winds increasing Saturday then moving off-shore on Sunday, when we see cleaner surf with rapidly dropping south swell. It’s pretty far out, but keep an eye on the timing of the front late week and into the weekend.
It’s cold 48* this morning and sunny. Look for a nice beach day with lots of sunshine and a high of 64*.
Water temperature is 57*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:27 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region into tonight.
