Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 4 2021 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat-to-knee high on the incoming tide this morning.
Winds are north-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for winds to remain north-west today, and surf zone stays clean and waves small all day today.
We have a high-tide at 11:14 a.m., and a low tide at 5:39 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading 1.6 at 6 seconds in a short-period south-easterly swell, but the moderate off-shore winds are beating it down.
After a good south swell over the first few days of the New Year, surf looks small for the majority of the work week. There is a possibility of increasing surf on Friday as a low-pressure system crosses our marine area, but swell will be short-lived as winds go westerly starting some-time Friday and into Saturday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will remain over the area through the middle of the week. A low pressure system will shift across the area Thursday into Friday, followed by another low pressure system early next week.”
It is a 44* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 57* with bright sunshine today. It’s a nice beach day, if not a little cool.
Water temperature has bumped back up to 57*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
