Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, July 16 at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is around knee to thigh high with rare waist high sets. It looks kind of fun for the high-volume boards early this morning.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 knots and surf is very clean, early.
Expect south winds around 10 knots throughout the day, creating some chop and a little current in the surf zone.
High tide will be at 11:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:23 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is 2.3 ft. at 8 seconds in dominant medium-period east/south-east swell and a short-period east/period north-east wind swell.
We should see some small longer period swell today for the longboard waves with surf averaging about thigh high with semi-choppy conditions. Our next swell looks to come into play late Tuesday and into the middle of the week as a cold-front approaches and stalls over our marine area. We should see an increase in choppy, short-period south/south-west wind swell for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. It won’t be too big or very clean, but there should be something to ride.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “An inland surface trough will strengthen through tonight. A cold front will move into the area mid-week before stalling and then moving north as a warm front Friday.”
It is 80* with sun and some clouds this morning. Look for a high of 92* with sun and passing clouds all day. There is a 20% chance of a thunderstorm.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
