Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, July 5 at 8:30 a.m.

We’ll be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Come by and see us.

Surf at the Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach set in a small, clean ground swell. It is closing out at the lower tide, but hit looks like some fun little waves out there again this morning.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.

Look for south-east winds this afternoon at 10 knots, and we see a semi-choppy, bumpy surf zone later today with waves averaging thigh-to-waist high.

We have a low tide at 11:03 a.m., and a high tide at 5:36 p.m.

We continue to see a small, fun south “trade-wind-style” swell today averaging thigh-to-waist high with some bump in it this afternoon as the winds come south-east at 10 to 12 knots. We have Hurricane Elsa that looks to take a path up the Florida Peninsula and will likely bring us a choppy, windy/ wind-chop swell for mid-week. Look for waist high surf Tuesday with cleaner conditions Tuesday morning. It’ll get choppier for afternoon. Wind swell builds significantly Wednesday afternoon into and Thursday. This will be a windy swell event as the storm approaches from our south-west. Not looking like a clean hurricane swell. Choppy south-west wind swell in the waist high range follows the storm as it departs Friday.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will stall south of the area through Monday. Tropical Storm Elsa could bring impacts to the region the middle of next week. Refer to the latest advisory on Elsa issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

It’s sunny and 78* this morning. Look for a hot, humid day with partly cloudy skies today and a high of 86*.

Water temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
