Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council on Monday. You must wear a mask in Ocean Surf Shop. Thank you for your cooperation, and for supporting our small, local business.
We have a new shipment of Odysea and Catch Surf soft-boards that arrived on over the weekend. Come check them out.
Surf at The Washout is knee-high. There is an occasionally thigh set. It’s best for the long-board this morning, as it’s soft at the higher tide, but there’s a little trade wind wave if you want to get wet.
Winds are light from the south-west, and surf is clean, early.
Winds should increase today eventually going south-east at 15 knots by late day. Look for choppier conditions as the day wears on.
We have a high tide at 9:21 a.m. Low tide follows at 3:22 p.m. We see another high tide after sunset this evening at 10 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 9 seconds in a medium-period ESE trade-swell.
Looking ahead small typical summer conditions prevail to start the beginning of the work week. Mid-week we should begin to see signs of life in a fresh, small, localized south wind-swell compliments of a low pressure system slowly moving out of the Gulf and off-shore of our beaches. This should build surf into the waist high range Wednesday and into the end of the work week as a low pressure pulls past our marine area. We will keep you in the loop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will linger over the region through tonight. An area of low pressure is then expected to develop and slowly move across the Southeast during the middle part of the week, before lifting north late week into the weekend.”
It’s 79* and cloudy this morning. Look for a hot, humid day with a high of 83*. There is a chance of showers off-and-on, today.
Water temperature is way up to 83*.
Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
