Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 9th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-high with a thigh set. It’s kind of weak at the higher tide, but rideable on a log. Probably better get it this morning before the tide gets into it this afternoon.
Winds are west-north-east at 5 knots, and surf-zone is clean. Just not much swell out here today.
Look for winds to switch south-east this afternoon at 10 knots, and surf zone gets bumpy and remains small at the afternoon’s low tide.
We have a high tide at 9:07 a.m., and a low tide at 3:02 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:24 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading a paltry 1.9 ft at 9 seconds in a small, medium period easterly swell.
With high pressure set up over our marine area, we really don’t expect much surf for the majority of the work week. It’s worth keeping an eye on the tropics as Invest 94L traverses into the Caribbean this weekend. Hard to say what the track or intensity might be, but we could see some residual swell about a week out. We’ll keep you updated as this low develops.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the area through the week.”
We have lots of sun this morning. It’s currently 80*. Look for a high of 85 with high humidity and typical August weather.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:09 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
