Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, June 21 at 8:30 a.m.
New Gary Wilson boards arrived on Friday. Come make sure to check them out while the selection is still good. This might be our last batch for a while.
Surf at Folly is waist-to stomach high with a chest set in a south-west wind chop swell. The bigger sets are closing out this morning.
Winds are west/south-west – side-shore – and surf is drifty up the beach and semi-clean.
Look for winds to increase this afternoon substantially out of the south-west at 15 to 20 this afternoon, and surf should continue drifty, keep about the same size, and get choppier this afternoon.
We have an incoming low tide this morning at 11:12 a.m. and high tide will be at 5:47 p.m.
If you’re willing to fight against the current, you’ll most likely find some fun little waves. Tropical Cyclone Claudette moves off-shore of the North Carolina coast today. During the first part of the work week the forecast should remain in the waist high range, potentially bigger, with a consistent south-westerly wind direction as a cold front approaches For Wednesday, when surf should clean up some and begin to shed size. As this front stalls off-shore look for increasing north-east wind and high angled north-east wind waves to end the work week.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Tropical Depression Claudette will move off the North Carolina coast this morning. A cold front will move through on Tuesday, then stall just off the coast. A coastal trough will persist into the weekend.
It’s 79* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 86* and sun this afternoon with passing clouds.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
