Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, June 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh high and soft this morning at the high tide. It’s small and best for a long-board glide.
Winds are slack, and surf zone is clean.
Winds should continue west this morning, then go south-west at 10 knots this afternoon. Look for winds to pick up from the south at 15 knots, late day. This will create bumpy south wind waves in the knee-to-thigh high range with perhaps a bigger set later today.
We have a high tide at 9:22 a.m., and a low tide at 3:14 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:39 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 7 seconds in a medium-period east/south-east swell.
Surf is small and clean this morning in the knee to knee-to-thigh high range. Bring the long-board if you want to get wet. We will continue to see this small south/south-west wind swell in the thigh-high range today as high pressure is set up over our marine area, and there are no real big swell-makers out in the Atlantic for now. We should see choppy south-west wind swell build some late tomorrow (Tuesday) into mid-week as a cold front approaches for Thursday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail through Wednesday, while a weak trough persists inland. A cold front will move through on Thursday, then high pressure will rebuild.”
It’s 81* and sunny out at the beach. Look for a high of around 86* with sun and a 15% chance for a thunderstorm later today.
Water temperature is 80*.
Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
