Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Monday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. It could build some with the tide. Unfortunately the wind is still on it from the east at 15 to 18 knots, despite all of our best predictions. Ain’t being a weatherman the best!
So, surf still has some size, but it’s choppy and drifty from north to south.
Look for continued easterly winds at 15 to 20 today, and we see pretty fun surf with decent size, but choppy and drifty all day.
We just had a low tide. Tide is coming in. High tide will be at 1:31 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:32 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell, so there is some swell at the buoy, and we see choppy surf with some size lingering all day.
Tropical storm Alex moves out of our swell window today, leaving us with easterly swell and lots of east winds. Wind looks to die some overnight if you want some clean leftovers for Tuesday morning. We see south-west winds for mid-to-late week, and a typical summer weather pattern with choppy south-west wind swell in the forecast for late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A stationary front will linger nearby into Tuesday. A cold front will stall over the region late week, before a storm system potentially arrives over the weekend.”
It’s 76* and sunny. Look for a high of 80* with a slight chance for thunderstorms later today.
Water Temperature is around 80*.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
