Choppy, side-shore

Time of Report: 8:00
Wave Forecast: Waist-Stomach
Traffic: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, March 15 at 8:00 a.m.

Don’t forget to push your clocks ahead an hour as of yesterday. Evening sessions are back on the day-planner.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist high with an occasional stomach high set.  Looks drifty, side-shore and not very much fun out in the water.

Winds are slowly picking up from the north-east at 7 knots this morning, and surf is choppy.

Look for winds to pick up from the north-east at 15-20 knots this afternoon, going east, north-east later today. We should expect to see even choppier surf as the day progresses.

We will have a high tide at 10:11 a.m., and a low tide will be at 4:04 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.9 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east ground swell.

A backdoor cold front affects our marine area today, and with it comes strong east/north-east winds and choppy easterly wind-swell. This rotates more onshore during the middle of next week, when we should have some more surf Tuesday through Thursday, with stronger south/south-west winds and chopper surf. There should be some surf this week, just not always the best quality. Keep an eye on Saturday and Sunday for bigger swell, as we expect to see another system pass by the coast.

It is currently 59* with sun and high gusts. Look for a windy and chilly beach day with a high of 63* and sun with passing clouds this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 59*.  You’ll be OK in a 3/2 and maybe booties. The wind will cut through pretty severely today.

Sunrise is at 7:28 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:28 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
