Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, March 29 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is ankle-to-knee high.

Winds are north at 10 to 15. Surf is side-shore, semi-clean.

Look for winds to continue north at 15 knots with a higher gust. It should abate some later this afternoon and continue north. Expect side-shore conditions all day.

We have a high tide at 9 a.m., and a low tide at 3:07 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:29 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 3.1 ft. at 6 seconds in a small, short period south wind swell. Most of this swell is being blown down by the north wind.

Look for high angled north-east wind swell to build today. Most of this wind swell will pass by our beaches. Look for this swell to rotate more on-shore during the middle part of the week as a cold front approaches for Wednesday evening brings on-shore flow to our marine area. That will likely be our best chance for meaningful surf. A strong cold front passes on Thursday, and winds/swell pushes off-shore Friday and into the weekend, when surf goes small and we see unseasonable cool temperatures.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will build over the area today, then a weak upper disturbance will affect the region later tonight through Tuesday. A strong cold front will approach the area later Wednesday and sweep through by late Wednesday night, bringing unsettled weather to the area. Unseasonably cool and dry high pressure will then dominate into the weekend.”

It is currently 58* with sun at the beach. Look for a nice day with a high of 65* and sun.

Water temperature is around 63*.

Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:37 p.m.
