Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, March 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a chest high set. Maybe slightly bigger. Plenty of south-east swell in the water, but conditions are not perfect.

Winds are south at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy, but still looks pretty fun, and it’s nice and warm at the beach.

Look for winds to rotate south-west at 15 to 20 this afternoon, and we see surf get progressively choppier as the day wears on.

High tide will be at 11 a.m., and low tide will be at 5 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is showing a south-east swell 5 ft at 9 seconds. So there is plenty of swell with a decent direction heading into the beach.

There are some waves in the water today. Thumpy, south swell with choppy conditions all day averaging waist-to-chest high with bigger sets. Looking like there could be a little clean-up early tomorrow morning as winds are forecast west. This, after a heavy south-west blow overnight. There should be some waves to ride the majority of the work week as a series of fronts brings rain and wind to our marine area. There will be some wind however. Keep an eye on the flags for best conditions. We see smaller east swell late in the work week. But still, something to ride. It should be a decent week of surf at Folly.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will extend across the area today. A series of fronts will bring unsettled weather to the area Tuesday through Saturday morning. Cool and dry high pressure will return late Saturday through Sunday.

It’s a warm 70* with sun this morning. Look for sun with passing clouds and a high of 72* today.

Water Temperature is up to around 62*. It should be on the rise later this week as warm temperatures return.

Sunrise is at 6:40 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:20 p.m.
