Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, May 14 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a ton of longboards, short-boards and fun-boards on our consignment racks at great prices. The selection is insane right now, so come find your new stick!
Surf at the Washout is running knee to thigh high. There is an occasional waist high set. Break out the longboard if you want to catch a few sliders.
Winds are east/south-east at 5 knots, and surf is clean.
We expect south winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon making surf choppy.
Tide is going out, and low tide will be at 1:37 p.m. Th next high tide will be at 7:56 p.m.
The Edisto buoy reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in south-east medium period swell.
We don’t expect too much surf today, but we are looking at some south/south-east wind swell pushing in Tuesday and through the weekend as an slow moving upper level disturbance keeps winds trending south/south-east. This will push some choppy, bumpy southerly wind swell into our beaches Tuesday into Wednesday. High pressure sets up to our west and sends in a decent trade-wind swell for the remainder of the work week and into the weekend. Conditions won’t always be perfect with south/south-westerly winds, but there is some surf of varying quality in the forecast for the next week or so. Get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “An upper level low pressure system to the southwest will bring unsettled weather to the area for much of this week, possibly extending into next weekend.”
It is sunny and 76 as of report time. Look for a warm day with a high of 80* today and sun mixed with clouds by afternoon.
Water temperature is now up to around 76*. Shed all that neoprene. We have TONS of rash guards at the shop.
Sunset is at 8:07 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:24 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
