Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, May 16 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a ton of brand new G. Wilson boards that just arrived in the shop. Longboards, mid-lengths fish and some shortboards. Come see what’s new and get ready for summer surf.

Waves at The Washout this morning are waist-to-stomach high with a slightly bigger set, occasionally.

Winds are south/south-west at 10 knots and surf is semi-choppy but still rideable, especially on the high volume board.

Look for winds to come south at 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 this afternoon. We see a choppy surf zone today.

We have a high tide as of report time this morning. Low tide will be at 2:32 p.m. High tide will be at 9:05 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 9 seconds in a south-easterly swell. Although it has dropped a bit,  there is still plenty of swell at the buoy with a good direction.

We see decent surf today if not a bit choppy this afternoon as winds come south at 15 to 20 knots.  After a weak cold front passage overnight, we see north winds push against short period south wind swell for Tuesday morning at the higher tide, which might produce some small, fading leftovers for the longboard. Might be worth a check. We see small south-west wind swell for mid-week, before south-west winds and choppy, short period south-west wind swell increases Thursday into Friday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A weak cold front will push offshore late Monday night. High pressure will gradually build into the region through the end of the week.”

It’s 76* with sun this morning. Look for partly cloudy skies today and a high of 80*. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Water Temperature is still around 74*.

Sunrise is at 6:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:12 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
