Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Some. Not too bad.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, May 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high. There might be a bigger set, and it’s not bad for the long-board glide.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf zone is glassy.

Look for winds to rotate more north-east, then east by early afternoon at around 5 to 8 knots. Look for some bump in the surf zone later today, but not too choppy.

Tide is now coming in. We have a high tide at 12:19 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:13 p.m.

There are some small longboard waves out in the water this morning as the tide comes in. This should fade out some as the tide rolls out, with bumpier conditions this afternoon. Atlantic High pressure sets up this week, and should keep some knee-high surf in the forecast for the first part of the week. As high pressure sets up off-shore mid-week, look for increasing, rideable easterly trade wind swell later in the work week averaging thigh-to-waist high.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail through next week.”

We have perfect beach weather. It’s 72 and sunny. Look for a high of 77* today and partly cloudy skies.

Water temperature is up to around 73*.

Sunrise is at 6:18 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:13 p.m.
