"Victory at Sea." Choppy, drifty. Could clean up before dark?

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Chest-to-head. Bigger.
Traffic: None.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: Squalls, wind.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, November 30 at 8:30 a.m.

We received a limited number of Album, Catch Surf and Ben Gravy soft-boards. Come get them before they are gone.

Sorry for the late report. Power surges knocked out the computers for a minute.

Surf at Folly is chest to head high in pre-frontal south wind swell.

Winds are south-south/west at 20 knots and there are many squalls and heavy rain in the area.

Look for winds to begin rotating more westerly behind a strong cold front this afternoon at 20 to 30 knots. Surf could clean up late day, but keep an eye on the flags. Hopefully the winds won’t stay too strong all day.

We had a high tide at 7:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 1:47 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:50 p.m.

Virtual buoy data showing 8 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.

We have large, “Victory at Sea” conditions this morning in strong pre-frontal south wind-swell. The wind rotates south-west, then westerly as the front passes this afternoon. Keep an eye on the flags, as it could clean up late afternoon. Cold high pressure sets up for the middle part of the week, and we don’t expect too much surf this week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A strong storm system will affect the region this morning. Cold high pressure will slowly build in its wake and persist through the rest of the week. A cold front will then push through the area Friday.”

There is a gale warning and a thunderstorm warning for Folly Beach this morning. It’s 68* and dumping rain. Look for temperatures to drop as the sun comes out behind the front this afternoon to 63*. You’ll need your 3/2 for that clean-up session.

Water temperature is around 65*.

Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
