Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, November 8 at 8:30 a.m.

We have moved to our winter hours starting today. Hours will be 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will close at 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Surf at The Washout is thigh to waist high with a stomach high set.

Winds are north this morning at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore, textured and semi-clean with a slight bit of drift down the beach in a high-angled north-east wind swell. There is still a flood tide, and surf is soft as the tide comes in.

High tide is at 10:24 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:40 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 8 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period east, north-east wind swell. A lot of that swell is passing by our beaches. Florida will be lighting up today and tomorrow.

We still have ridable waves today. Low pressure moves to the north-east, away from our marine area early in the work week. This will keep some small, high-angled north-east swell in the forecast. Nothing big. Best for the high-volume board. Surf drops in size into mid-week, then we see choppy south wind swell fill in Thursday and Friday ahead of an approaching cold front. Nothing too big, but likely rideable. If you want some fun surf early in the work week, head to north or central Florida.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will gradually build into the region through the middle of the week. A cold front is expected to cross the area late Friday night followed by high pressure through the weekend.”

It’s 51* with bright sunshine this morning. Look for a high of 66* today with sun. Beautiful beach weather.

Water temperature is going down. It’s now 62*. That’s about a 10* drop in one week, but it should warm up some mid-week. Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:23
