Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Nov.9 at 8:30 a.m.

We have moved  to our winter hours now that the time has changed. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Surf at Folly is chest-to-shoulder high with a bigger set, and will build with the incoming morning tide push.

Winds are north north/east at 15 to 20, and surf is side-shore, super drifty and semi-choppy.

Look for winds to increase from the north-east then east this afternoon at 15 to 20 knots, gusting to 25 knots.  Surf gets choppier this afternoon, with continued drift down the beach.

Low tide was at 7:45 a.m., and high tide will be at 2:03 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:32 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 10.9 ft. at 11 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

There is lots of swell at the buoy, and we see chest-to-head high surf all day, with mostly choppy conditions. We have high pressure to the northeast, and tropical storm Eta to our south-west of the Florida Keys. This keeps strong on-shore flow in the forecast for the next few days, with strong wind-swell at Folly.  Tropical Storm Eta should further strengthen but remain somewhat stationary in the Gulf of Mexico through much of the work week, meandering near Florida’s West Coast. This keeps choppy surf in the forecast for much of the work week, but winds could come south, which might improve conditions some, but surf will remain choppy. We will keep you posted on Eta details as things progress. Either way we have tons of surf on offer this week if you want to put in the work.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will remain northeast of the area through midweek, while Tropical Cyclone Eta meanders over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Eta could then move northeast towards the area late week ahead of an approaching cold front. The front could linger in the vicinity over the weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Eta issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

It’s 71* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 76* with some clouds and a 30% chance for rain today.

Water temperature is around 69*.

Sunrise is at 6:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
