Good morning this is Bates, with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, October 23 at 9 a.m.
We have wetsuits on the floor for this upcoming swell, including spring suit styles and full suits.
Also, all men’s board shorts and hybrids are on sale, so come check them out. We have a very good selection.
Surf at Folly this morning is starting to pick up a bit; It’s thigh-to-waist high. It’s semi choppy, but could get better form as the tide pushes in.
Winds have picked up from the north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and there is a drift starting to show coming from north-to south, down the beach.
We have a low tide as of report time – 9 a.m. We see a high tide at 3:49 p.m. Waves could get a push on the incoming tide.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 10 seconds in a south-east ground swell compliments of Hurricane Tammy. This is pushing against a short period north/north-east wind swell reading 4 feet at 6 seconds.
We now have Hurricane Tammy moving in our general direction and into our swell window this week, and this is the start of what should be a good week This will increase ground swell through mid-to-late week as Tammy lingers in our swell window all week long. The only fly in the soup will be north/north-east winds, but winds should be fairly light on Tuesday, so it will likely be a day of good surf. Get on some neoprene and get wet this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “ Dry high pressure will prevail across the region this week.”
Water temperature is around 68*.
It’s beautiful this morning. It’s 60* and sunny. Look for sun and a high of 70* and sunny all day. A beautiful day to enjoy Folly.
Sunrise is at 7:28 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:40 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
