Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, September 12 at 8 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning are averaging knee-high. It’s semi-clean and weak with a west/south-west wind at 5 knots.
Winds continue from the south-west at around 10 knots as a cold front approaches today. We see bumpy surf later today.
High tide will be just before 10 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:06 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:23 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 9 seconds in a medium-period east ground swell. Most if this swell is passing by our beaches.
There is still some north-east swell in the water, but it’s passing by Folly Beach and headed to Florida or the Outer Banks through Tuesday. Surf looks small at Folly until the middle of the work-week. We have a feeling a low will pop-up off of a stalled frontal boundary late Thursday and Friday of this week, bringing with it strong north-east winds and high angled, short period north-easterly conditions Thursday through Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will move through the area late tonight and Tuesday, then stall off the coast into early next week.”
Water Temperature is around 83*.
It’s 79* and mostly cloudy this morning. We have a chance of rain today and it’s a humid 83 this afternoon.
Sunrise is at 7 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
