Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, September 19 at 8:30 a.m.

We actually got a few men’s spring suits in, so come grab one while we have a few left as it’ll cool off at the beach later this week.

Surf at the Washout is thigh-to-waist with a stomach high set in a choppy easterly wind swell with a high angle on it. It is soft and very disorganized at the higher tide, and should keep the same form today.

Winds are east at 15 to 20, and there is a drift down the beach.

Look for easterly winds at 15 to 20 knots today, and we see choppy east wind swell building late afternoon as the tide comes in.

We are coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 2:06 p.m. The the next high tide will be at 8:30 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft at 6 seconds in a short period easterly wind swell, with a south-east ground swell mixed in; 1 ft at 10 seconds.

We see increasing easterly wind swell in our forecast for today with easterly winds keeping surf choppy and weather unsettled. Winds come more on-shore for Tuesday and Wednesday and look for choppy wind-swell to continue into mid-week. After a cold front passage on Thursday, winds well come more offshore and clean up small ground swell from what is now Tropical Storm Peter. Look for waves to drop off late week as north-east flow increases and sends north-easterly swell past our beaches and down to Florida.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A wet weather pattern will prevail into the middle of the week. A cold front will move through the area Wednesday night into early Thursday, followed by drier high pressure prevailing through the weekend.”

It’s 81* this morning and raining. We expect rain all day and the temperature should stay around 80*.

Water temperature is around 82*.

Sunrise is at 7:06 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:19 p.m.
