Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, September 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-high. There is an occasional thigh set. It is soft at the high tide, and is rideable on the log.
Winds are west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is clean.
We see winds switch south-west at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, and the surf will get slight side-shore chop in it.
High tide will be at 8:45 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:50 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:55 pm.
The Edisto Buoy 1.6 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period easterly swell, most of which is moving past our beaches.
Not much surf to look at through the middle of the work week. We are now tracking Tropical Storm Ian. This system could be troublesome and perhaps upset our lives a bit. Keep an eye on it. It is forecast become unruly and move north out of the Caribbean, along the west coast of Florida and into our general vicinity. This will likely bring some heavy wnds and rain Thursday through Saturday, with a big north-east blow going south-east Friday into Saturday. Surf will likely build starting Wednesday, but it’ll be choppy wind swell, not a real ground swell. Either way, keep an eye on it for late next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will push across the region today before high pressure returns Tuesday. Tropical low pressure could impact the region toward the latter half of the week into the early weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Tropical Cyclone Ian issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
Water Temperature is around 80*.
It’s beautiful at the beach this morning. It’s 73* and sunny. Look for a high of 83* with sun today. It is perfect beach weather.
