Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy MLK Day!
Surf is showing a small pulse around knee high may improve on the tide push. Enough for a log.
Winds are west south-west 5-10mph again providing clean surface conditions. Winds should remain the same throughout the day.
Tide is dead low at the time of reporting. Look for todays high tide to follow at 2:18 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 feet at 12 seconds in a long period swell. Where this swell is coming from is a mystery to me. But the buoy is even showing a small swell to my surprise.
Surf looks a bit better than yesterday, still small around knee maybe a thigh high nugget when the tide fills in. Mid-morning could be a fun longboard wave. High pressure continues to run the show for us keeping our surf generally down through mid-week. A cold front makes it was later this week pushing though Thursday night producing a small but fun quick shot of SSW wind-swell. Another system looks to be right behind that end of the week front that could bump our surf back up later this weekend. Well keep ya in the loop.
Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail though tonight. A weak cold front will approach late Tuesday and dissipate north of the area. Another cold front will move through Thursday night, with a storm system
to likely impact the region this weekend.”
It’s CHILLLY at the beach this morning. 44 degrees with sunny skies. Look for an overall high of 62 degrees with ample sun.
Water temperature, it’s 55*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:35 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
