choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: shin-knee high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 8 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a full run of men’s 3/2 Billabong Wetsuits and Billabong 4/3 women’s suits on the racks. Just got here. Come check them out.

Surf at The Washout this morning is shin-to-knee high.

Winds are north-east at 7 knots, and surf zone is quite textured.

Look for winds to switch south-west over the duration of the day and dropping to 2 – 5 knots.

We have a high tide at 12:25 p.m., and a low tide at 6:30 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 6 seconds in a medium period northern wind swell.

Today is blowing side shore with choppy conditions and no real surf. If you are going regardless, the biggest board you have is necessary. It appears we have some swell building late evening tomorrow with slightly warmer temperatures which means Monday morning is looking like the time to go, but we will keep you updated on that tomorrow morning.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail today, then move off the East Coast as a cold front approaches Sunday. The front will move through the region Sunday night, then offshore through Monday. Colder high pressure will build over the region and prevail into late next week.”

It’s currently 39*and sunny. It’s quite cold but a beautiful day on Folly!

Water Temperature is hovering around 59*.  That’s going to drop out with the north flow.

Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
