Ocean Surf Shop Surf Report 08/05/2021

clean

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh-waist
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, August 5 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high. Jump on the wave before the tide drains out too much. Looks like a lot of fun with a little bit of a bigger board this morning.

Winds are north-north-east at 8 knots, and surf zone is clean. The water doesn’t have too much added texture, but the sets are slightly unorganized.

Look for winds to stay north but turn slightly more east at around 8-11 knots this afternoon, and surf should pick up later today, with potential for added chop.

We have a low tide at 12:12 p.m., and a high tide at 6:42 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period south/south-east ground swell.

This morning looks fun out with a lot of surfers in the lineup. It looks like the more liters the better because the tide is affecting the power of the wave but plenty of good rides are available none the less. This afternoon has potential with the incoming high tide if you don’t mind some chop but your best bet is right now before it gets drained out and windy.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A stalled front will linger over or near the area today then shift north on Friday. High pressure will then build into the area over the weekend and prevail next week.”

We have clouds this morning and a light drizzle. It’s currently 73*. Look for possible light rain with a high of 82* this afternoon, but it’ll likely stay dry all day with a hope of some partial sun in the afternoon.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:37 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:15 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
