Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: shin high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, August 13 at 8:30 a.m.

The Governor’s Cup of Surfing takes place at The Washout this weekend. Hopefully we see you out there!

Surf at the Washout this morning is ankle-shin high.

Winds are south at 4 knots, and surf-zone has a small amount of texture.

Look for winds to switch south-east at 3-7 knots for the remainder of the day.

We have a high tide at 12:14 p.m., and a low tide at 6:20 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 1.8 ft at 8 seconds in a small, medium period easterly swell.

The forecast has been flat for the entire work week and hopefully today will be the last of that trend. We should see a small pulse starting tomorrow from tropical cyclone Fred. The satellite imaging is showing that Fred is not holding up as it passes the Bahamas and into the Gulf region which is going to limit the intensity we will receive.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the area into the upcoming weekend. A front will then likely stall just northwest of the area early next week while Tropical Cyclone Fred moves onshore along the northeastern Gulf Coast. Fred will then weaken as it moves north into the southern Appalachians into mid week. Refer to the latest advisory on Fred issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

Today is a beautiful day with plenty of sun. It is currently 81* with a high of 86* today.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:08 p.m. Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
