Ocean Surf Shop Surf Report 10/02/2021

clean

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: waist-chest high
Traffic: none
Parking: limited at the washout
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, October 2nd  at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is waist to chest high with the occasional shoulder high set but the sections aren’t forming up too well.

The surf zone is clean early with a north-east wind at 13 knots.

Winds will stay the same but slowly subside throughout the day leaving a small bit of texture on the water in the afternoon.

We have a low tide at 11:09 a.m., and a high tide at 5:29 pm. The next low tide is at 11:50 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 14 seconds in a long-period south-east swell compliments of hurricane Sam.

The swell from Sam finally arrived and it looks fun out there. The sections are little bit funky and there is plenty of closeouts this morning but hopefully this afternoon the high tide will help the formation. The pier seems to be able to hold a long period swell better than the washout so it’s worth checking out but definitely get out today if you can!

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will be the main feature through the weekend. A complex storm system will then bring periods of unsettled weather through mid-next week.”

It’s a beautiful 72* and sunny. Look for a high of 81* and sun today. Awesome fall weather here at Folly Beach.

Water temperature is down to 78*.

Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:04 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
