Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 30 at 8:30 a.m.
We’re open for regular business hours this week. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will close at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and be closed New Year’s Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-high at the lower tide, but it looks like it could increase some on the incoming tide late morning.
Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy.
Look for winds to increase to 13 knots and drop back down again later this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 10:42 a.m., and a high tide at 4:36 pm. The next low tide is at 10:49 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet at 5 seconds in a short period windswell.
Similar to yesterday, the incoming tide will be the time to go but it is not going to be great. Size is your friend so if you have a longboard and are dying to go, take that. It appears to have a side shore current going north, so beware of that. Keep your eyes on Sunday and Monday, it’s looking like we will get some ideal conditions at about waist high.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will generally prevail until a strong cold front move through Sunday. Much colder high pressure will then return into the middle of next week.”
It’s warm and cloudy this morning. It’s 65*. Look for a nice winter beach day with a high of 71* and some sun this afternoon.
Water Temperature is hovering around 60*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
