Good morning this is Luke, with your Folly beach surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly has dropped off basically flat, some knee high slappers breaking on shore.
Winds are light offshore and the surf is clean. Look for NW winds 5-10mph today and the surf should be clean for today.
High tide will be at report time, and low tide will drop out at 3:14 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 at 6 seconds in SW short period wind-swell this is generally moving out to see off our shores.
Surf has gone basically flat today. Sunday into mid-late next week is looking pretty bleak as high pressure looks to take control of our general marine area. The good news we may get relief late work week into the weekend. 1st the tropics aren’t dead yet, Tropical Storm Sean has fizzled out in the eastern Atlantic but we have newly formed Invest 94L heading our way and looks more promising. 94L is supposed to go through some fazes of strengthening and weaking due to some sheer ahead in it’s path. Models have it entering our window Friday into Saturday before it takes a hard turn to the north. 2nd we have a departing low/front approaching on Friday that could give us a quick shot of surf Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Nothing is set in stone yet I will be watching closely and update these to potential wave makers tomorrow.
Water temperature is around 73*.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “ A cold front is currently sweeping through the region, followed by cool high pressure next week. A storm system is expected to bring unsettled weather to the region by early next weekend.
Water temperature is around 73*.
Its chilly this morning in the low 60s although SUN is back in control beautiful morning at the beach, look for temperature to climb into the low 70s as the day moves on.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:48 p.m.
