Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 a.m.
Keep in mind, there are no more parking restriction at Folly Beach. Parking is now available on Center Street and all side-streets.
The Folly Beach Pier is now closed as they prepare to tear it down and build a new structure.
Winds are very light from the west, and surf zone is very clean.
Look for winds to come more onshore from the east and increase around 10 by mid-afternoon. This should add some bump and a wind-chop to the surf zone.
Low tide this morning at 8:48 a.m., high tide will be at 3:33 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 7.2 ft at 12 seconds in a long-period east ground swell.
Surf is still showing this morning thigh-waist high might be a plus set when tide comes in. Look for this swell to slowly fade today into the afternoon hours. We also have Invest 95 firing up again south of the Caribbean, and it could move into our swell window, but it’s not looking super promising right now. We should see some pre-frontal trade-wind swell during the middle of next week, as a cold front approaches late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail today before an upper disturbance passes through tonight. A weak cold front will then move through Sunday night, followed by high pressure. A storm system is expected to bring impacts to the region late next week.”
It’s 72* this morning with clouds at the beach and showers. Look for a high today of 82* and partly cloudy skies. Showers developing late/overnight.
Water temperature is 72*.
Sunrise is at 7:30 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
