Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 26th at 8:30 a.m.
Hope that everyone had a great Christmas! We’re open regular hours this week and closed on New Years Day.
Surf at the Pier this morning is waist to stomach high.
Winds are N at 7 knots, and surf is semi-clean with a bit of an angle and slight texture. Definitely some waves to be ridden if you’re in the right spot.
Look for winds to rotate NE today, remaining in the 5-10 knot range.
We are coming off of high tide. Low tide is at 1:56 p.m. and high tide will be again tonight at 7:56 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 ft. at 10 seconds in an ESE ground swell.
We see slightly angled swell from the ESE this morning, bringing with it some size, but because of the extreme high tide, waves are breaking just a bit funky this morning. Best bet would be as the tide backs out over the next hour or two. Definitely some fun ones on a mid-length or bigger at the moment. Looking to late work week, high pressure pushes offshore and could see a smaller trade swell with cleaner, warmer conditions. Thursday and Friday might end up being a smaller, but more manageable day with nice weather. We see another cold front approaching our waters late in the weekend, pushing in another south wind swell on Sunday. Lots of opportunity of for waves throughout the week, just keep your eyes on winds.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region through the end of the week. A coastal trough could bring a few showers late in the week with a bit more rain early next week due to a passing cold front Sunday night or Monday. High pressure will then try to return into mid week.”
It’s partly cloudy and 56* this morning. Look for a high of 67* with sun today.
Water temperature is around 55*. Come grab some gear.
Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:19 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
