Pier January 12th

clean, side shore

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast:
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: chilly!

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 12 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Pier are less than knee high.

Winds are N at 10 to 15 knots. Surf-zone is side-shore, clean and waves are breaking close to shore.

Look for winds to remain from the NE today at 10-15 knots.

We have a high tide at 11:41 a.m., and a low tide at 5:55 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 5 seconds in a high angled NE/ENE wind and swell. Waves are still small this morning, and we really don’t expect much real surf for the next few days. A storm system brings unsettled weather for the weekend, pushing up a small swell for Sunday, but it’s not looking like the surf will build too much. Next week looks flat, too unfortunately.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Periods of unsettled weather expected this weekend as a storm system impacts the area. Drier high pressure is then expected to build over the region into late next week with another storm system possible next weekend.”

It’s 44* this morning and cloudy. Look for a high of 54* with clouds throughout the day.

Water temperature is up to around 58*.

Sunrise is around 7:23 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:34 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
